Securing Your Wedding Registrar

Securing Your Wedding Registrar

Giving Notice

Now that you’ve secured your wedding date and made the wonderful decision to marry at the incredible Pendrell Hall, you might be thinking what’s next? The next most important task is to give notice of your marriage and secure a wedding registrar for the ceremony. You can give notice from 12 months before your wedding date, but no later than 28 days before.

Giving notice is done by appointment at your local register office. This is where you state your intention to marry in the form of a legal document. If you live outside the registration district of Pendrell Hall, you must give notice at the office within the district of where you live and have lived for at least the past 7 days.

At your appointment you will be asked several questions regarding personal details about yourself and your partner. This is nothing to worry about as this is just how the register office identifies that you are legally able to marry. You will be required to provide several documents like personal identification such as a passport and proof of your address. It is important that you contact the register office for a full list of the necessary documents, as if you cannot provide sufficient documentation at the meeting, you will have to pay for and attend another appointment.

Following this, you will sign a legal document stating your intentions of marriage, which will then be displayed in the Register Office publicly for 28 days. During this period, this gives the public the opportunity to make it known if they are aware of any legal reasons as to why you should not marry.

Securing Your Wedding Registrar

Securing Your Wedding Registrar is also one of the most important aspects in the wedding planning Rrocess as this is the person who will legally marry you in the ceremony. We strongly recommend that you contact the Stafford Registration Office as soon as possible, as the registrar’s availability is limited and ceremony times can be booked up very quickly. The first point of call will be to check the registrar availability on your wedding date online; you will then be able to request an appropriate ceremony time which you will have prior established with the Pendrell Hall events team.

If you’ve booked your wedding more than 2 years in advance be sure to pop a reminder in your calendar to get in touch with them once your wedding days falls within the next 2 years.

It is really useful to have confirmation of your ceremony time early in the planning process, as the rest of your wedding schedule will revolve around this and dictate the timings of each section of the day. You should also confirm with them that they are able to travel to Pendrell Hall to marry you, where you may need to confirm with them whether you intend to have an indoor or outdoor ceremony.

We’ll decide together on the day, whether the weather is suitable for your outdoor ceremony. It’s worth knowing that the Registrars have to be happy to proceed with an outdoor ceremony. Click the button below to find out more.

Outdoor Ceremonies

Before The Big Day

Your registrar will provide you with a booklet detailing various promises and reading options that you can use in your ceremony. Although you are more than welcome to compose your own vows, as this is a legally binding occasion, there are certain aspects of the ceremony wording that cannot be changed. For example, civil ceremonies are non-religious, as such these ceremonies cannot include any religious wording or hymns. Alternatively, you may ask your registrar if you can include a personal reading. If this is something you are unsure about, it is always best to contact your registrar to discuss any additions to your ceremony.

Your registrar will also be able to assist you in making announcements in the ceremony to keep the day running smoothly. For example, following the completion of the ceremony, you may want the registrar to guide guests into the celebratory moment that is the all-important confetti walk.

On The Big Day

A question we often get asked is if there is a ceremony rehearsal prior to the big day. While it is natural to feel a little apprehensive of this unfamiliar occasion, as the registrars are so busy with weddings every day, they cannot perform rehearsals. However, there is no need to worry as around 30 minutes prior to your ceremony, your registrar will meet with you both privately to run through the ceremony schedule to ensure you are both happy with everything.

This short discussion will establish the order of ceremony and confirm things like your song and reading choices. This ensures that there’s no confusion and that your ceremony is exactly how you envisioned.
