One Bride's Journey
Planning a Pendrell Hall Wedding
I Said Yes!
Hello! I’m lucky enough to call Pendrell Hall my workplace, I’m also lucky enough to be getting married here very soon...eeek!
It’s 2019... finally it's my year to get married and the countdown is on!
A few people have asked me if it feels like a busman's holiday getting married at Pendrell Hall but I fell in love with this stunning wedding venue on my first day working here and the love affair hasn't faded.
Planning my wedding has been a ride!
At first it didn't seem real, I’ve been daydreaming about my wedding ever since I was a little girl but now with only 4 months to go, the reality has hit and the excitement (and stress) continues to build!
I hope you don't mind me sharing some of my wedding planning journey with you. Nothing could prepare me for the all-consuming journey of discovery that is planning your own wedding!
It's Different When It's Your Own
I love my job, I love working around weddings and I'd like to think I've helped quite a few couples have their dream day at Pendrell Hall. I'll admit to thinking that planning my own wedding really wouldn't pose much of a challenge...boy, did I underestimate how many decisions need to be made and how joyfully distracting it all is!
One of the loveliest gifts I received following my engagement, was a Wedding Planning Notepad. I carry it everywhere, I jot notes, I write reminders... I've also become a late night internet surfer of all things wedding. Oh yes, I am in the wedding planning bubble and I'm loving it!
This is a Big Deal!
I only plan on doing this once and it is a big deal! When I started thinking about wedding suppliers and making contact with them, it was really important to me that they shared my enthusiasm and made me feel like a million dollars.
When it comes to wedding suppliers there is a lot of choice and many different options; I wanted my suppliers to share my excitement and passion, I wanted to work with people who'd listen to what I wanted and go the extra mile to make it happen.
Book Your Wedding Suppliers ASAP
My top tip would be that if your heart is set on a certain supplier, contact them straight away, as soon as you have a date and a venue! These highly talented and creative wedding suppliers can take bookings up to 2 years in advance so if you’ve done your research and really want a particular supplier, get them booked as soon as possible!
Make Joint Decisions
It’s not all about the bride! My amazing fiance is happy to let me crack on with the wedding planning but I never forget that it's his day too!
We've both had equal say in the choice of wedding suppliers. Some of them are around you all day so it was really important that we both feel comfortable with them.
A lot of choice!
There is so much choice when it comes to wedding suppliers and it's really easy to get carried away!
I'd say, make sure you have a plan and a budget in place before you start spending and focus on what's important to you and what you want on your big day.
Everyone has different priorities and it's a good idea to chat through want you want with your partner before opening it out to parents and friends because you can't have everything so it's about choosing what's a 'must have' and starting a 'wish list' for the rest!
The first wedding supplier we crossed off the planning list was a Wedding Photographer. We chose our Photographer soon after setting a date and my top tip would be to do the same if you want your first choice of photographer.
I chose Stephen Sutton, as he ticked all our boxes and most importantly, he put Nathan completely at ease. He's pretty camera shy and we were keen to find an awesome photographer who would work with us on the day and not take over!

Next on the list was Videography. Loved ones had highky recommended getting a Videographer to capture the day, convincing me that I'll love watching it for years to come.
I love the idea that I'll get to see parts of the day that I'm not directly involved with, like the Groom's Prep and things that I might have missed out on too!
We know that watching the video will be a real highlight after the big day. We can't wait to see how Jack from Up Close Weddings captures the day.

Flowers! I knew exactly what I wanted when it came to flowers and I chose a florist who could help bring my vision to life and allow me to have my own creativity. Nothing is too much trouble for Steff at Love Flowers, she’s happy to go above and beyond to create my dream.
Cake… One of the most delicious tasks was choosing our wedding cake supplier! The cost of wedding cakes came as a bit of a shock but I'm confident it'll be worth it, it isn’t really something you think about until it’s your turn to get married!
With 4 tiers, all of different flavours, Laura Jane Cakes is tasked with making the perfect cake for our big day and I can’t wait for everyone to try it.

When it comes to my own wedding, I want to keep the look of my wedding traditional and glamorous. Another wedding supplier on my list is Design Elegance as a Venue Stylists for table linen and plates.
The idea is to add that extra glam and elegance to give the look of a proper traditional wedding.
Next up is Entertainment! Music can be overlooked when it comes to planning a wedding and there are so many options. I've opted for a Dream Team wedding supplier as my evening entertainment - Wedding Sounds DJ.
I opted for a DJ and dancefloor as my night time entertainment with bespoke playlists and music to get everyone up dancing.
Hair and Make-Up
Every bride wants to look and feel beautiful on their wedding day and I'm no exception to that! To help me get ready for the big day, I've picked a talented team for my Hair and Make-Up. Laura Louise for my hair and Chloe McCall as my Make-Up artist.
When choosing your Hair and Make Up wedding suppliers consider if you want all your bridesmaids to have professional hair and makeup done, if so think about the timings of the day carefully and don't book your ceremony too early, so there's plenty of time to enjoy the preparations.

There was no doubt that I had to have a Church Wedding. I've always dreamed of an Traditional Church Wedding.
However a Church wedding means that you need to consider extra wedding suppliers such as transport from the church to the venue after the ceremony and additional extras such as transporting flowers to the venue.
I chose to get married at St Mary the Virgin and St Chad’s in Brewood as it is close to Pendrell Hall and for transport, Platinum Cars will be escorting us to the venue.

Real Wedding Countdown
Once you have chosen your perfect wedding suppliers, it's worth me sharing the inside track on when they start needing your attention!
- 12 Months To Go: At this point, I had all suppliers secured for my wedding.
- 6 Months To Go: The pressure is on and everyone wants a piece of me. Wedding Suppliers are eager to contact you to book appointments and trials.
- 4 Months To Go: I've taken a step back to look at my budget and spreadsheets to see if there's any pennies left for anthing on the 'wish list'!
- 3 Months To Go: Get ready to part with your cash! This fast approaching date for me, is around the point where all your suppliers will be expecting payments in full.
Don't panic if this doesn't fit your own personal timescale! Everyone is different and every supplier will be different, this is just my wedding planning experience.
Planning a wedding is meant to be fun! This is your special day and no doubt a day that you've been dreaming of for most of your life, I know I have! Think about that initial excitement you had when you (finally) got engaged and now you're now counting down the days until your big day!
Wedding planning is my happy place. If I've had a stressful day at work, it's easy to escape by planning my fairytale wedding and knowing that my dream will soon be a reality! Bring on June!
